The Challenge

Retiring Legacy Systems and Modernizing APIs

The organization faced a two-fold mandate:

  • Replace a legacy system used to assess mortgage applicants’ credit risk. The prior setup featured heterogeneous, non-centralized flows, poor scalability, and response times unsuitable for real-time integration with bank front ends. The new solution had to be robust, scalable, secure, and compliant.
  • Build a new web API for branch operators to support routine tasks such as simulations, lookups, and document retrieval.

The Solution

Cloud-native Web APIs with a Mature DevOps Architecture

To meet these objectives, we designed two distinct APIs under a shared architectural pattern: maximum scalability, high performance, and secure integration with existing banking systems. The entire solution is cloud-native on Microsoft Azure.

  • ✔ .NET 8 framework for web API development;
  • ✔ Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) for container orchestration and elastic scale;

  • ✔ Single Sign-On (SSO) integrated with the existing identity infrastructure.

Outcomes

Banking API Integration and Process Automation

Thanks to the new architecture, API response times improved by ~60%, and release cycles shortened significantly. Branch operations became smoother, with ~40% fewer customer wait times.
A fully automated CI/CD setup now supports weekly, zero-downtime releases, while AKS orchestration sustains 99.95% uptime under heavy load. The platform complies with financial regulations and aligns with GDPR and PSD2 security standards.
