Business software
From on-premises business software to the cloud, with AI in the development process
An ongoing programme combining event-driven microservices, Azure DevOps processes and an internal ecosystem of skills, plugins and agents. .NET 10 backends with Angular and Blazor frontends.
The Client
Evolving an established business software portfolio
The client is a group developing business software for companies and professionals. Reengineering was brought in to support the migration of on-premises applications to cloud infrastructure and the adoption of artificial intelligence in development processes. Our contribution connects architecture design, DevOps processes and shared tools for software teams. The case is presented anonymously to protect the client's confidentiality.
The Challenge
Bringing both applications and working practices to the cloud
The challenge concerns both the software and the process used to design and release it. Moving to the cloud calls for rethinking service boundaries and interactions; introducing AI requires tools and practices that teams can reuse.
- Evolve on-premises business applications towards a microservices architecture
- Design interactions between services around events
- Structure development and release processes in Azure DevOps
- Integrate AI into team workflows through shared skills, tools and processes
The Solution
Event-driven microservices and an AI ecosystem for development teams
We support the client in building microservices-oriented, event-driven architectures on .NET 10 with Angular and Blazor frontends. Alongside this, we contribute to Azure DevOps processes and an internal ecosystem for AI-assisted development: an internal marketplace makes skills and plugins shareable, while MCP server integrations connect assistants to development tools.
- Microservices architectures and event-driven communication to modernize business software
- .NET 10 backends with Angular and Blazor frontend applications
- Azure DevOps processes and pipelines for builds, checks and releases
- Internal marketplaces for skills and plugins to share AI practices and tools
- MCP (Model Context Protocol) server integrations connecting assistants and tools
- Agent modules and agentic pipelines supporting development activities
What We're Doing
The programme is ongoing. Our work focuses on cloud architectures, Azure DevOps processes and AI integration into development workflows through skills and plugin marketplaces, MCP servers, agent modules and agentic pipelines. The goal is to make these capabilities reusable across teams and support the evolution of business applications through a shared approach. The benefits described are programme objectives, rather than quantitative results already measured.
Benefits for the Client
The goals: modular software and shared AI capabilities
Support the evolution of business applications through modular services and event-driven interactions
Make build, verification and release activities repeatable through shared Azure DevOps processes
Make AI skills, plugins and integrations reusable across teams through an internal marketplace
Integrate assistants and agent modules into development workflows, connecting them to tools through MCP
